Everything with a timber frame is made in one building near the port, by eight people, most of whom have been doing it longer than we have been selling it.
Frames are cut and dry-assembled before anything is glued. A lounge chair frame spends a day clamped before the upholsterer sees it. It is slower than it needs to be, and it is the reason a chair that has been sat in for a decade still does not creak.
Why the lead time is what it is
Nothing is held in finished stock except the smaller pieces. A sofa in a particular fabric is cut when it is ordered, which is six to eight weeks. We would rather quote that honestly than hold a warehouse of the wrong colours.
